McKinsey Web 2.0 Enterprise report - McKinsey, the US consultancy, released ‘Building the Web 2.0 Enterprise: McKinsey Global Survey Results’ based on a survey of 1988 executives. The report shows usage of E20 technologies is increasing, however experiences are varied and tool usage is changing. This report resulted in much blogsphere activity including: Hadley Reynolds of FastForward and Patti Anklam of AppGap. E20portal.com has been running a series of special reports on the 'Industry Researchers' to compare and summarize their findings. These reports include, Market Research suggests Enterprise 2.0 confusion and How big is the Enterprise 2.0 pie?.  

Enterprise 2.0 Book - Niall Cook released his long anticipated new book 'Enterprise 2.0: How Social Software Will Change the Future of Work' in July. Niall is CEO of the business social bookmarking software company Cogenz and works for the communications consultancy Hill & Knowlton.  Headshift, the E2.0 consultancy, has posted a short review of Niall’s book.

Office 2.0 Conference update - More details of this event are now available from the new Office 2.0 conference website. E20portal.com will be chatting with conference organiser Ismael Ghalimi to find out his thoughts on this years event. The interview will be posted soon on E20portal.com

E20portal.com events page additions - More Enterprise 2.0 worldwide events have now been included within the E20portal.com event page. These events include the Defrag 2008 Conference in Denver and the 6th Annual Enterprise Architecture Conference in Sydney.

 

Vendor news

Mindtouch new release - MindTouch, the open source wiki vendor, has released a new version of Deki: “Kilen Woods". This major new version extends the applications capabilities to include workflow and enterprise integration. The ZDNet writer Dennis Howlett  and Barb Mosher of CMSWire both wrote praising reviews of MindTouch's new version. 

Amazon S3 has outage – The Amazon S3 web storage service suffered a severe worldwide outage on July 20th. In a statement issued by Amazon they said ‘we know that any downtime is unacceptable and we won't be satisfied until performance is statistically indistinguishable from perfect.’ .  The book author and blogger Nick Carr commented constructively on the outage.
